Dear Rotarians

The most recent report I received from The Rotary Foundation shows statistics for the district and club contributions to the Annual Fund.  As of February 29, 2012 we contributed $20.47 per capita.  We can and we will do better.  Sadly, 27 clubs contributed zero dollars and 18 clubs are below the average for the district.  So far, there is only one club that satisfies the requirement of being an EREY club - all members contribute at least $25 and per capita contribution exceeds $100...

Congratulations to the Brewster Rotary Club for reaching this level.  I am expecting 10 or more clubs in our district to reach the EREY status.  More importantly, I would like to see every club contribute at least some amount to our Foundation's Annual Fund.  I have sent an E-Mail message to the "zero" club presidents appealing them to get out of that dubious distinction.  I know that we are all going through difficult economic times and some of us wait till the last day in June to make a contribution to our Foundation.  I am asking each one of us to reach within and help our brothers and sisters around the world who are less fortunate than us.  We have about 100 days to make a difference in their lives.  Every dollar we contribute to our Foundation's Annual Fund returns to the district three years later so that we can transform lives worldwide by funding projects in Rotary’s six areas of focus:

• Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
• Disease prevention and treatment
• Water and sanitation
• Maternal and child health
• Basic education and literacy
• Economic and community development

In order to contribute to The Rotary Foundation, log into the Members Only section of www.rotary.org and then to our Rotary Foundation: www.rotary.org/contribute or simply call 866-976-8279.  Thank you in anticipation of your generous support.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Tansukh Dorawala
