At the board meeting, it was decided to keep our meetings at Perkins.  The Townhouse did not have the best acoustics, no screen for speaker presentations, no storage for our Rotary items (flag, bell box, nametag box, etc.), and it is uncertain whether they will continue their breakfast service.
Matt, Mike S., and Lauren attended the Region 5 Dinner last week.  It was a great night hosted by the Liberty Club with lots of fellowship and updates from other clubs in our region.
Christine Rolando and Paul Rafanello spoke about Literacy Orange, a volunteer based English tutoring provider.  Literacy Orange is the only free English tutoring service in the area.  They offer services to adults and students.  In the United States 1 in 5 American adults is functionally illiterate.  Paul also spoke about 2 upcoming fundraising events Literacy Orange is hosting- their Diamonds in the Rough 30th Anniversary Gala on September 22, 2011 and a "Shred Event' on October 15th.  (Clean out old documents from your house and bring them to be shredded to benefit Literacy Orange.)  For more information visit
