The following are minutes from our January 11, 2011 meeting.

January 30th -- 2nd annual Pancake Breakfast, 8am-12pm at Pine Bush High School. Final ticket push- sell, sell, sell!
February 12th -- Blood Drive, 10am-2pm at Wallkill Living Center. Contact Don Lawrence for more information.

The sign-up sheet for the Pancake Breakfast was passed around again. Please contact Mike S. if you can help out.
SPEAKER(S):
John Harper has served as the Executive Director of HONORehg (formerly Emergency Housing Group) for 23 years and not one single day has been boring. HONOR stands for Helping Others Needing Our Resources; this name more accurately describes what they do. HONOR is the only shelter under a performance contract- they have 90 days to move people from crisis to performance. They currently house 16 families (12 single women, 25 single men) and 47 children at their site in Middletown. The median age of a homeless person is 5 years old. "A Friend's House" has 14 beds for youth 17 or younger who have run away from home. HONOR also has an Addiction Crisis Center that serves over 1,000 people. A new HONORehg program is HONOR Industries. In this program people make excellent quality furniture for sale to the public. Workers are taught soft skills so they can go out and get hired in the workforce. If anyone has any ideas on how to market the furniture, please do not hesitate to contact John. John made a point of saying that switching their banking to Orange County Trust has been a tremendous help and Jim Lawler and Steve Plain have also been extremely helpful over the years.
