On Tuesday, November 9, 2010, PDG Dr. Jim Yarmus inducted Lynka Jones into the Wallkill East Rotary Club. She attended our Wiffle for Kids event this year and her employer, Shoprite, was a Pinch Hitter sponsor of the event. We are thrilled to have such a great addition to our club.

Lynka was born in Puerto Rico in a small city named Caguas and moved to Monticello when she was 5 years old. She is from a large family with 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Her mother is Puerto Rican and 3/4 italian and her father is Puerto Rican and 1/2 brazilian indian. Lynka graduated from Monticello High School and studied accounting and pastor ministries for two years at Nyack College. She then transfered to Berkley College in White Plains where she studied Business Administration Management & Marketing. Lynka currently works for Shoprite (for 4 years now), where she started as a cashier and worked her way up to Shopper Advocate/HR. Eventually she would like to become the leading Supervisor in the company's HR department.

Lynka loves to read (favorite authors include Judy Blume, Nicholas Sparks, and Emily Griffin), cook and eat culture infused foods, and play the drums. She also enjoys volleyball and snowboarding, has two dogs, and wants to learn to play the guitar. Lynka is very interested in Japanese culture: anime, food, language (she is trying to learn it), history, and clothing. Her motto is: "Consistency creates Credibility" and she strives to live by this at work, home, and with her friends.

Welcome to Wallkill East Rotary, Lynka!
